IN THE NEWS: Fast-growing restaurant operator Jim ‘N Nick’s Bar-B-Q is expanding into Arizona and North Carolina and building a new corporate headquarters in Birmingham’s Liberty Park, the Birmingham Business Journal reports. Now headquartered on Union Hill Drive in Homewood, Ala., Jim ‘N Nick’s will more than double its office space to coincide with its growth plans. The company also is close to opening debut locations in Phoenix and Charlotte and a third location in South Carolina, said Sam Burn, the company’s commissioner of culture. … Pewter Rose Bistro, a pioneering South End restaurant, will now stay open until 2 a.m. on Friday and Saturday nights to cater to the club crowd, the Charlotte Business Journal reports. Chef Geoff Bragg has created a special menu for the late-night hours. The restaurant, in the heart of South End at 1820 South Blvd., is near busy nightspots Tutto Mondo and The Sunset Club. … The Journal also notes that the Dunkin’ Donuts chain plans to add 45 franchise restaurants in the Charlotte area over the next five years. Massachusetts-based Dunkin’ Brands Inc. currently has 26 outlets in the market. The local expansion is part of an N.C. growth strategy that calls for 112 new locations in markets that include Asheville, New Bern, Raleigh-Durham and Wilmington. … Robin Domeier visits Frank Manzetti’s Tavern (6401 Morrison Blvd.) for the Charlotte Observer, while critic Helen Schwab gives two and a half stars to Zink American Kitchen (201 N. Tryon St., at the IJL Financial Center). Schwab also reports: The Wine Shop at Foxcroft (7824 Fairview Road) now has a full-service wine bar, and a menu from Noble’s.
